Yes. Prototype scope should include acceptance criteria and the expected production path.

How do you prevent the "sample trap" — perfect samples but poor batch quality?

We use the same CNC program, fixtures, and tooling for samples and production. FAI data from samples becomes the baseline for batch SPC monitoring. No hand-polishing or selective measurement.
